Curmudgeon’s Corner 72 - MTE Review and Hangout with Cars w/ Keav and The Occasional Detailer

Due to perceived copywrite infringments, this episode of Curmudgeon's Corner 72, has been edited to remove the "Mental Floss" segment of the show. Apparently YouTube doesn't care about your mental health. Sorry.

Tonight’s episode is a little different — and exactly what it needs to be.

This is a hangout.

No hot takes.

No breakdowns.

Just real conversation with good people.

I’m joined by Michael Keav (Cars w/ Keav) and Israel Durant (The Occasional Detailer) — two guys who have been absolutely invaluable to the Pay It Forward campaign and this community. We’ve been together at SEMA, just wrapped MTE, and wanted to sit down while it was all still fresh.

We talk about:

• Keav’s transition to full-time YouTube content creation

• How that shift is actually going

• SEMA vs MTE from a content creator’s perspective

• The pros and cons of each for filming and connection

• Why showing up still matters

• Community, conversations, and the moments you don’t plan for

We also start the show with Mental Floss, sharing a quiet but powerful moment from MTE that reminded me just how much impact a single conversation can have — and why this community exists in the first place.

And as always, we close The Corner the way we always do.

❤️ PAY IT FORWARD

We’re continuing to build toward the next phase of the Phoenix E.O.D. Pay It Forward Campaign, including a Shipping Hope gathering at the warehouse on March 26th & 27th, where the Phoenix family is invited to help pack and ship hope together.

This isn’t a show.

It’s people helping people.
