Ep 3 - Diabetes and the Five Stages of Grieving: Insights and Coping Strategies with Jessica Dudzinski , BSN, RN, CDCES

Jessica Dudzinski has a passion for empowering people with diabetes. After her type 1 diagnosis 17 years ago, she went through all the Kubler Ross stages of grieving (anger, denial, depression, bargaining, acceptance). As a teenager struggled with disordered eating and accepting diabetes. She found acceptance through this with her faith in God.

She shares with us how her experiences and hardships inspired her to help others living with type 1 and to meet them right where they are, to help them reach their goals. As a pediatric diabetes nurse educator for 8 years and worked in hospital, clinic & community settings. She was one of two primary nurses who educated all families in the hospital- newly diagnosed or known patients.

Her work includes:

· Supports patients emotionally and physically. in a multidisciplinary behavioral health clinic

· An eating disorder clinic as needed.

· In a global setting as part of a research study by educating healthcare workers and people with diabetes in Rwanda.

Her goal is to help empower people emotionally and physically so that they can live long, happy, and healthy lives with type 1 diabetes. From each experience, she learned & gained so much in return!
