Science is Not a Conspiracy Theory

Why does developing a new medicine remain so difficult, and what happens when artificial intelligence enters the equation?

In Episode 2 of BioTalk Unzipped, Gregory Austin and Dr. Chad Briscoe examine some of the fundamental challenges facing drug discovery and development, including the enormous scientific uncertainty involved in turning an idea into a medicine.

The conversation moves into artificial intelligence and its growing role in biopharmaceutical research. Gregory and Chad explore where AI could accelerate discovery and development, but also what increased reliance on AI may mean for education, critical thinking, and the way future scientists learn.

They also look beyond technology to something even more fundamental: the motivation of the scientists doing this work. What keeps people pursuing difficult scientific problems when experiments fail, companies change direction, and years of work may never become an approved therapy?

Gregory concludes the episode by sharing the unconventional path that brought him into biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.

This episode is designed for anyone curious about how medicines are developed, whether you work inside the industry or simply want to better understand the science shaping healthcare.
