A Love letter to my wife

A Love letter to my wife

I wanted to write a poem but it ended up being a love letter about my relationship with my wife… I’ve been knowing my wife now for 35 years...we met in 1985 at Shaw University in Raleigh North Carolina… I was 20 years old she was 18 years old from South Plainfield New Jersey and I was a country boy from Goldsboro North Carolina born and raised in rual North Carolina… I remember the first time I saw her I was in the men’s dormitory looking out of the window and suddenly she appeared walking across campus.....one of my best friends at that time was standing with me and when I opened my mouth I said that’s my wife right there..... I’ve never seen her before but I knew that was the woman that would be my wife… Sometimes when we’re together I keep reminding her of how much of a miracle that was that we are here today with a family out of a first time encounter... My son is 17 about to be 18 in March of this year… And I told him I believe the same thing is going to happen to you that happened to me and your mother. I have to tell you there’s nothing like knowing somebody loves you and there’s nothing like growing up together in love with a person that you knew so young... Even though we have had our ups and downs in our marriage but my wife has never ever put me down... when we’ve had a lack of money or circumstances turn dire she always was by my side... I never share anything on my personal side like this but I just felt compelled to do so it may help somebody in their marriage to go back and Fetch the feelings of affection that you had for one another and why you got together in the first place… Don’t give up on each other go back and remember why you started your relationship in the first place and be at peace with each other...

Being on Crack on Beatties Ford road

I don’t know what it’s like to be on drugs or addicted to crack or be a regular marijuana smoker. I never popped pills or any of that but I do have empathy for my people when I see them in that condition. The other day talked with a brother that I see frequently on Beatties Ford Road and LaSalle, and we had a conversation about his crack addiction and how he was struggling with it.
