Why Do Famous People Often Struggle With Addiction?

As a society we see fame as something to aspire to. But is it really all it's cracked up to be?

Today's episode of Sober Awkward is all about celebrity.

What's it really like when managers control your every move, you have expectations of others weighing upon you, a heavy workload, people that look up to you and way too many nights in hotel rooms… where does it all lead?

Today Vic and Hamish discuss the recent passing of Matthew Perry and why we lose so many talented people to addiction. Vic reminisces about some of her famous run-ins and Hame wonders if he's been missing out on some celeb snogs.

As Oscar Wilde said,

‘Aspirations for fame are motivated mainly by the need for validation and attention.’

which unfortunately can lead many wonderful people down a path to heavy boozing.
