Stronghold #5 Stimulant and Substance Abuse

Stimulant abuse in the Bible was mostly attached to alcohol, cut could relate to anything that is mood altering and results in unhealthy addictions. Many liquor stores still advertise liquor as “spirits.” Alcohol can be a pathway to the demon in the bottle.

We pray this repentance prayer with and over you and your family:

Lord, deliver me from the bondage of drugs and/or alcohol. I ask that you heal my mind from the lies that the enemy has been feeding me and I have been listening to. Open my eyes toes the kind of slavery I am in. Remove me from the dungeon of addiction and lead me to your light. Heal my body from damage caused by drugs and alcohol and help me to start living a healthy life.

Even though you came to set the captives free, I am still living in captivity because the god of this world has blinded me from the truth. Lord, set me free from captivity and help me to find true freedom in Jesus. Surround me with your shield of love so that I may continue walking in freedom that only you can give. Almighty God, arise and let the spirit of alcoholism and drug addiction be scattered.

Let all those that are struggling with addiction be delivered. Open my heart to the truth and break the influence of the enemy over my life. Let the resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead bring healing unto my organs that have been affected by alcohol and drugs. Let your grace be upon me that I may go through the recovery process without falling back into my old ways from my unhealed wounds.

Grant me wisdom so that I can choose the right friends who will help me become clean and useful people in your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen
