The Lamanite Placement Program of the Mormon Church

From 1948-2000, the Mormon Church operated the “Lamanite Placement Program” or as it was later known, the “Indian Placement Program.” An estimated 50,000 Native American children were fostered in Mormon households in order to attend school in their communities.
