Sevda Memet, from Constanta, Romania, is pursuing a master’s degree in Business Administration at Stanford Graduate School of Business, and a master’s degree in Public Policy at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences as a Knight-Hennessy Scholar in the inaugural cohort of the scholarship program. She graduated summa cum laude with a medical degree from Ovidius University Constanta and worked as a Chief Resident in Hematology-Oncology and Rare Diseases in the Romanian public healthcare system. She was awarded the 2018 Ten Outstanding Young People of Romania and aspires to help cancer patients by creating the first oncological system in Romania that will focus on integrated medicine and genetic testing. At Stanford, Sevda holds the following roles and distinctions: Co-President of the Graduate Student Council (Stanford Public Policy Program), Co-Managing Director of Cardinal Ventures (Stanford’s non-profit student-led startup accelerator program), 2021 Global Leaders and Innovators in Human and Planetary Health Fellow and 2020 Stanford US-Russia Fellow in the Biosecurity and Public Health Group.
