Ep. 464: Exploring an Underwater Airplane Graveyard - Brandi Mueller

Ep. 464: Exploring an Underwater Airplane Graveyard - Brandi Mueller

Today’s guest, Brandi Mueller, is an avid diver and underwater photographer. She’s dived in over 30 countries and works as an instructor for much of the year. Her passion for diving is infectious and her expertise has been featured in dozens of publications all over the world.
Recently, she co-authored a book about her experience diving to see an underwater airplane graveyard where 150 American airplanes were dumped at the end of WWII in the lagoon of Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands. The haunting pile of flightless planes were surprisingly photogenic and getting the location was half the adventure. Enjoy!

The book, now available:

The Airplane Graveyard: The Forgotten WWII Warbirds of Kwajalein Atoll

Ep. 734: From Engineer to a Backpacking Career - Revisited - Jessica “Dixie” Mills

Originally aired June 3, 2019When Jessica Mills, aka “Dixie”, quit her engineering job and began her first thru-hiking adventure of the Appalachian Trail, she never imagined her YouTube channel would grow into what it has become. Through her easy-going demeanor, matter-of-fact advice, and overall charming attitude, she has become one of the go-to sources of advice, inspiration,  and how-to channels to learn about all things backpacking. I hope you enjoy this look behind the scenes of the Homemade Wanderlust channel and the triple-crowner who hosts it.Be sure to check out Dixie’s weekly videos here, which include her most recent thru hike, The Florida Trail: www.YouTube.com/c/homemadewanderlustFacebook: @HomemadeWanderlustInstagram: @HomemadeWanderlustWebsite/Blog: www.homemadewanderlust.comOur Sponsors:* Check out Infinite Epigenetics: https://infiniteepigenetics.com/ASP* Check out Uncommon Goods: https://uncommongoods.com/aspSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/adventure-sports-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Ep. 732: Riding a Motorcycle to Races All Over the World - Revisited - Lyndon Poskitt

Originally aired October 06, 2016Lyndon Poskitt is an accomplished motorcycle racer and mechanical engineer from North Yorkshire in the United Kingdom. He had an accident in 2013 that landed him in the hospital just long enough to contemplate how he was spending his time in life. This started Lyndon on his 2 1/2 year journey called Races to Places where he rides his modified KTM 690 Rally around the world entering it into local rally races. I caught up with Lyndon in El Paso, TX as he prepares to continue on the next leg of R2P down into South America to compete in the 2017 Dakar Rally in January.Website: racestoplaces.comFacebook: www.facebook.com/LyndonPoskittRacingYoutube Channel: www.youtube.com/user/adventurespecPatreon: www.patreon.com/user?u=3186891Twitter: @lyndonposkittInstagram: @lyndonposkittOur Sponsors:* Check out Infinite Epigenetics: https://infiniteepigenetics.com/ASP* Check out Uncommon Goods: https://uncommongoods.com/aspSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/adventure-sports-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Ep. 730: The Unlikely Path to Building a Bike Park - Seth Alvo

Ep. 730: The Unlikely Path to Building a Bike Park - Seth Alvo

This show was originally aired on Without Compromise by Athletic Brewing. Taking the road less traveled will inevitably take some unexpected turns and uncover many unexpected opportunities. The key, as Seth says, is to follow the opportunities. He should know as the founder and creator of the premier mountain biking YouTube channel Berm Peak (formally known as Seth’s Bike Hacks), where Seth does mountain bike how-to’s, advice, and is currently building an entire mountain bike park in the mountains of western North Carolina. However, Seth’s story starts out in a way you wouldn’t expect a leading voice in the world of mountain biking to start, BMX riding in Miami. That didn’t stop him though. He picked up his camera and started recording anyway. Fast forward a handful of years and Seth is using his community's support to build a mountain bike park that will be open to the public. Find out more about Seth:YouTube channel Berm PeakInstagram: @sethsbikehacksTo learn more about Athletic Brewing’s Two For The Trails grant, which is open until May 31st, go here: https://athleticbrewing.com/pages/two-for-the-trailsFind affordable online classes like Yoga, Tai Chi, Essential Oils, Music, and many more. Ep. 729: How to Walk From a City to a National Park - Julia Oleksiak

When Julia wanted to express the difficulties that others go through to just “get out there”, she decided to make the most basic steps of experiencing the outdoors, getting there, an obstacle to overcome. After thinking on her idea for a year and a half, she decided to start walking from the iconic downton Denver Union Station to the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park, almost 70 miles away. Blisters, cars, and even animals were just some of the challenges she faced in the four-day journey. Today Julia is here to tell us about the amazing experience. You can read a day-by-day report of the journey here. You can learn more about the Cairn Project here. Is the price of gear holding you back from going on your next adventure or have extra gear you don’t need?
