Doug Fears | A Biohacking Success Story That Can Teach Us a Lot KKP: 680

Today, I am blessed to have here with me Doug Fears. He is a senior adviser (non-resident) at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and the chief operating office of Artis International, a company specializing in integrating artificial intelligence and behavioral science. Growing up on the eastern shore of Maryland along the Chesapeake Bay, he was naturally drawn to a life on the water. This inclination led him to enlist in the Coast Guard in 1982, initially with no intention of making a long-term commitment. However, Doug's initial four-year plan transformed into a 40-year career. Eventually, Doug transitioned into roles centered on policy and D.C., focusing primarily on federal budgeting. He closely collaborated with the House of Representatives, the Office of Budget and Programs, and the National Security Council staff. His career path afforded him profound insights into governmental operations and the intricacies of public policy. In this episode, Doug discusses his life journey and delves into the concerning state of government nutrition policies. He reveals the significant influence of industry interests, underscores the importance of metabolic health during the pandemic. Tune in as we engage in a conversation about the necessity for unbiased research and funding to support evidence-based, empirically sound health recommendations. / / E P I S O D E S P ON S O R S Wild Pastures: $20 OFF per Box for Life + Free Shipping for Life + $15 OFF your 1st Box! https://wildpastures.com/promos/save-20-for-life-lf?oid=6&affid=132&source_id=podcast&sub1=ad BonCharge: Blue light Blocking Glasses, Red Light Therapy, Sauna Blankets & More. [16:59] Keto and Health Transformation Fat adaptation can be achieved relatively quickly by restricting carbs and increasing fat intake. Keto adaptation is a more prolonged process that involves reshaping physiological properties and processes. Keto-adapted individuals may experience a decline in ketone levels, indicating efficient ketone utilization. Maintaining a flexible approach to intermittent fasting can enhance the journey to better health. The use of tools like the power plate and other devices can help increase bone density and improve overall fitness. [25:33] Dental Health: The Mouth-Heart Connection The toxins in the mouth may attribute to a significant percentage of heart disease. Biological dentistry recognizes the interconnectedness of oral health with the overall body. The removal of amalgam fillings and root canal-treated teeth can aid in reducing toxic burden. Cavitations, unhealed spaces in the jawbone, can harbor harmful bacteria and contribute to systemic inflammation. Improving airway health and addressing sleep apnea can positively impact overall well-being. [32:03] Biohacking and Optimal Health Wim Hof breathing and cold exposure can provide an immediate boost in energy and mental acuity. Red light therapy, especially when used in 10-minute cycles on various body areas, has a profound impact on well-being. Methylene blue, when combined with red light therapy, enhances ATP production, contributing to improved energy and overall performance. Nitric oxide and methylene blue can both be beneficial, but it's essential to use them cyclically rather than chronically. Ozone therapy, including rectal insufflation and ozonated water, can help address toxicity and health issues without resorting to antibiotics. [49:47] The State of Government Nutrition Policies The government's nutritional guidelines are problematic and counterproductive, promoting the wrong dietary choices. Public health interests are often influenced by industry interests and lobbying, making it challenging to shift towards more accurate health recommendations. Metabolic health and nutrition should have been a central focus during the pandemic, but the public often seeks quick fixes and pills rather than making lifestyle changes. There's a clear agenda to push engineered plant-based foods and diminish the popularity of the keto diet, leading to censorship and misleading information. A fact-based, empirically sound approach is essential to promote health and reduce medical costs, emphasizing the need for unbiased research and funding. AND MUCH MORE!
