This classic episode of 48 Hours, which last aired on 3/6/2010, begins on July 22, 2008, when Michael Roseboro, a funeral director in Denver, Pennsylvania, called 911 to report that he had just found the body of his wife, Jan, at the bottom of their swimming pool. Less than an hour later, she was pronounced dead. An autopsy revealed that she had been strangled, beaten and then drowned. On the evening of July 13, 2023, New York, authorities took into custody Rex Heuermann of Massapequa, Long Island. The architect was arrested in connection with what has been called the Long Island Serial killer case. Since late 2010, the remains of at least 10 people have been found on Gilgo Beach. The investigation first began when a young woman by the name of Shannan Gilbert disappeared. While investigators were searching for Gilbert, they found the other remains. Gilbert’s body was finally found a year later, but police ruled her death an accident and determined it was not a result of a crime. Erin Moriarty has been covering this story since 2011.
