In the end it was a convincing and comfortable victory for the Reds, who put out a strong XI against Blackburn's much-changed team. Brennan Johnson got two goals and put in a strong showing, with Jesse Lingard also causing problems, and scoring a goal with a double deflection. JLingz also set up Taiwo Awoniyi's goal with a great pass which the Nigerian complemented with a good cut inside and finish.
