Polygamy as well as blood atonement featured prominently in the zeitgeist of the time, with intense rhetoric that led to some some terrible and extremely unfortunate outcomes. This is a part of history that we would all prefer to forget, but acknowledging it and coming to terms with it is important as we seek to understand our past and the history of our traditions in our search for truth.
