Trial Of Caleb Flynn Day 7: What Was Inside Ashley’s Phone?

Samantha Reeb spent her direct testimony showing jurors timelines built from Caleb Flynn’s interviews and digital data. On cross-examination, the defense started asking what those timelines might not tell them.

The Ohio BCI criminal intelligence analyst testified that she created timelines from Flynn’s statements to police, information provided by investigators, and data recovered from Flynn’s iPhone.

Then defense counsel turned to Ashley Flynn’s phone.

Reeb testified about notes recovered from Ashley’s iPhone, including one indicating problems within her marriage to Caleb. That gave jurors another piece of the relationship history from Ashley’s own digital records.

The defense also questioned Reeb about communications involving Alleigha Botner. Counsel asked specifically about messages in which Botner may have expressed hatred toward Ashley or said she wanted Ashley dead. Based on the testimony details provided, Reeb’s response to those specific questions was not established.

Flynn has pleaded not guilty in the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn. Prosecutors allege he murdered Ashley and staged a burglary. The defense argues investigators rushed toward Caleb instead of adequately pursuing the possibility of an intruder.

The prosecution used Reeb’s analysis to organize Flynn’s digital footprint. The defense is now using the same witness to make jurors look at the wider digital record.
