Breathe Out the Week: Find Your Calm in Four Counts

Breathe Out the Week: Find Your Calm in Four Counts

Hey there, friend. I'm Julia Cartwright, and I'm so glad you're here with me today. You know, it's early Friday morning, October fourth, and if you're listening right now, there's a good chance you're already feeling the weight of the week settling on your shoulders. Maybe you've got meetings stacking up, or perhaps it's just that background hum of anxiety that won't quite quit. Whatever brought you here, I want you to know you're in exactly the right place. Let's spend the next few minutes together unwinding that tension and remembering what calm actually feels like. So find yourself somewhere comfortable. That could be your bed, your kitchen chair, even your car if that's what you've got. The only rule is that you're somewhere you can be for just a few minutes without interruption. Take a moment to settle in, let your shoulders drop away from your ears, and when you're ready, let's begin. I want you to start by noticing your breath. Not changing it, not forcing it, just noticing. Imagine your breath like gentle waves rolling onto a quiet beach. In through your nose for a count of four, and out through your mouth for a count of six. That slightly longer exhale? That's the magic. Your nervous system is like a dimmer switch, and the exhale is what turns down the brightness of stress. Four counts in, six counts out. Let's do that together for the next few breaths. Now, here's where we get creative. I want you to imagine that as you breathe in, you're drawing in cool, clear air, like the morning breeze on your face. And as you exhale, you're releasing that tension as warm, golden light leaving your body. Watch it float away. Your jaw softens. Your hands uncurl. Your whole body begins to remember what it feels like to not be braced for impact. Keep breathing this way. In with the cool clarity, out with the tension. Notice where in your body you're holding stress right now. Your neck? Your stomach? Just observe it without judgment. That tightness isn't a failure, it's just information. And now, with each exhale, you're gently releasing it back into the universe. The beautiful thing about stress relief is that it's not about making everything disappear. It's about creating just a little space between you and whatever's happening. That space is where your power lives. As you move through your day today, I want you to return to this whenever you need it. Just four counts in, six counts out. You've got this. Thank you so much for joining me on Stress Relief. Please subscribe wherever you listen so you never miss a practice. You deserve this peace. For great deals today, check out https://amzn.to/47ZqpWT
