065 Your Clutter Is Winning Because You Lack True Awareness with Anja Lavigne

065 Your Clutter Is Winning Because You Lack True Awareness with Anja Lavigne

Look around your room right now. If you are staring at a pile of random paperwork, a cluttered kitchen counter, or a piece of furniture you secretly hate, your house is actively draining your energy.

Former home stager Anja Lavigne joins me to talk about why we hoard random things out of pure guilt and how clearing out the physical junk can actually make you feel physically better.

We talk about the real reasons we keep family heirlooms we don't even like, how to stop turning your workout gear into a permanent clothes rack, and why managing your home is something you have to do regularly, just like getting a haircut.

  • The Toy Dog Ear Test. What keeping a single piece of an old childhood toy through five different apartments says about your emotional baggage.

  • The Expensive Furniture Trap. Why keeping an ugly cabinet just because a relative gave it to you creates constant negative static in your day.

  • The 3 Mug Limit. How to design your space for the way you live every single day instead of hoarding extra dishes for a party you never throw.

  • The Library Hack. A brilliant trick to borrow party platters and small appliances from your local library so they do not clog your kitchen cupboards.

The 4 Pillar Tiny Shifts

MIND: Map Your Space. Draw a quick sketch of your main room. Put a heart around the spots you love and a triangle around the parts that annoy you so you know exactly where to start changing things.

BODY: Run the 5 Minute Circuit. Open your windows to let the fresh air in. Set a timer on your phone and spend exactly five minutes cleaning off a main surface like the kitchen counter or the bathroom sink.

SOUL: Try the Broom Sweep. Ditch the loud vacuum for a bit. Sweep your front porch or your kitchen floor with a regular broom while intentionally focusing on letting go of the stress from your week.

HOME: Shop Your Own House. Before you buy new decor online, move tables or artwork from one room to another to completely change the vibe of your space for free.
