Nottingham Forest 3-0 Barnsley: The 1865 Match Report

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. Forest continued their winning ways by seeing off bottom side Barnsley in front of a bumper Tuesday evening crowd of 27,000 at The City Ground. After a quiet opening, Forest took the lead on 15 minutes when Keinan Davis dispossed Mads Andersen, before striding through and slotting the ball into the corner for his first goal in a Reds shirt since joining on loan from Aston Villa. Steve Cooper's side doubled their lead seven minutes before the break as Ryan Yates finished off a flowing move, which involved an incisive Jack Colback pass to release Brennan Johnson down the left, where he put a superb cross in which Yates tapped home, timing his run into the box perfectly. A slow start to the second half saw little action but Forest stepped it up again and added a third on 75 minutes. Djed Spence carried the ball down the right flank, seeing off the attention of several Barnsley defenders, he rolled the ball inside where Johnson stroked it first time into the far bottom corner to cap off a comfortable victory. The Reds saw an effort by Steve Cook saved and a Xande Silva strike hit the post as they went on to secure a win which moves them closer to the Championship playoff places. Steven is joined by Tom Newton to reflect on Forest's win, including the influence Brennan Johnson is having on the side, how Forest got the job done on the night and Steve Cooper's post-match comments, where he made reference to 'that' Charlton game and was keen to avoid a repeat, following the high of the Derby victory on Saturday. Forest got the job done with a relatively comfortable cup win over plucky Luton, with goals from Ryan Yates and Ramón Sosa. The away team did have some chances, but Forest could have scored more as well, and considering that the Reds made eleven changes to the team, and got Danilo back on the pitch, half a season after his badly broken ankle. George Edwards is joined by Tom Newton to talk about the match, the problems in the Bridgford End, and also to preview the forthcoming top of the table clash against Liverpool. Friend of the pod Ryan McCole joins us for a view from the opposition, and of course, we will be back with our report after Tuesday night's big game. Forest scored goals at crucial times, with Morgan Gibbs-White scoring early, and Chris Wood at the end of the first half, before Taiwo Awoniyi finally got his goal in stoppage time to seal the win. Wolves did threaten but weren't sharp enough in front of goal and Matz Sels kept out the rest. Tom Newton reports back from Molineux, and along with Rich Ferraro debates the tactics and what made Forest great in this one. Unfortunately we also have to discuss the vile chanting aimed at Morgan Gibbs-White and his family, before thinking ahead to the Luton cup match. We are grateful to Dave Azzopardi from Talking Wolves, who provides the view from the opposition. Forest won away, making it five on the bounce, and putting them into second place in the Premier League! A goal and an assist for Chris Wood showcased the Reds' ability on the counter-attack, with Morgan Gibbs-White getting the second, and it could have been more with Sosa, Williams, Elanga and Awoniyi forcing decent saves from Jordan Pickford. A toothless Everton were no match for Milenković and Morato at centre back. George Edwards reports back from Goodison, with a view from the home end by a rather frustrated Mike from the Unholy Trinity Podcast. Presented by Rich Ferraro with The 1865 Podcat. Nottingham Forest 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur: The 1865 Match Report

Nottingham Forest 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur: The 1865 Match Report

It was a misty afternoon on the banks of the Trent and a Happy Christmas for Reds fans, who watched their team climb to third in the table with a victory over Spurs. As ever, it was built on defensive resolve and counter-attacking might, with Anthony Elanga getting the decisive strike. At the other end, former Red Brennan Johnson came closest, but his promotion-winning alumnus Djed Spence was probably pick of the visiting players, despite his late sending off. Rich Ferraro is joined by Baz to discuss the game, the tactics and the yellow cards! We'll be back after the Everton game on the 29th - come on you Reds! Brentford 0-2 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report

Brentford 0-2 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report

It was another impressive victory for the Reds, this time inflicting Brentford's first defeat at the GTech Community Stadium this season, and keeping a clean sheet to boot. Nuno elected to stiffen up the defence by moving to a back three, and although Forest arguably took a little while to warm up, the result was never in doubt once Ola Aina put the visitors in front, with Anthony Elanga taking advantage of mistake to double the lead in the second half. Our match report is brought to you by George Edwards and Tom Newton, both fresh back from west London. Stay tuned for a festive edition of our Football Terrorists podcast on Christmas Eve, before we bring you reports on the games against Tottenham and Everton.
