50 Plus a Tip

Welcome back Tippers!! These past two weeks have been HECTIC (in the best ways possible). This episode we: recap our last two weeks of work happenings (broken dicks, men detailing our cars in maid outfits, parking spot boobs, Ukrainian cam models, and more stories); share some helpful tips on how to get rid of bruises; debate whether we’d want our partners’ exes to look extremely similar to us or vastly different; discuss “performative receiving” (prompted by an infographic featured on @cliterallythebest ig); provide our responses to a friend’s university project questionnaire regarding the SWer community and safety; and tackle a few listener questions. Aries (@ari3s_bb) is a sex worker of 6+ years and started str!pping almost 4 years ago. They have also worked with grassroots and political organizations throughout this time, practiced their str!pper smile while working a 9-5 barista job, and been inching closer and closer to a bachelor’s degree along the way. After trying out various fields of study—from visual art to political science to religion—they discovered they could translate being super gay and in love with women (and never shutting up about it) into a degree and landed in Women and Gender Studies. This has allowed them to do research around SW, SWers, race, gender, class, media, communication, justice, religion, and violence against marginalized groups. Aries is currently a semester away from graduation, str!pping in Philly and making spicy content. They’re also blowing up on TikTok where they share SW, str!pping and spiritual related content with their 55,000+ followers! We chat to Aries about: their experience dancing in Philly; being a SWer in academia; peoples’ misconceptions regarding the dangers of the s3x industry; tips for staying safe as a SWer; gatekeeping informative within the SW community; female patrons being terrible in the str!p club; the crossover of spirituality, psychology and other methods of healing with regards to s3x work; and a ton more! This week’s episode is a TWO PARTER and may just be one of our favourite interviews so far! This week we are sitting down with Jeremy, a good friend of Danica’s and the General Manager of the world famous str!p club The Number 5 Orange (aka. “The Five”).  The second part of this interview we put Jeremy in the hot seat and asked him all (well most of) your listener questions! Top 3 qualities of a good entertainer? Qualities you love in a dancer that works at your club? Do you ever go into a str!p club as a patron? From the male perspective, what makes a good lap dance ? What would be a reason for firing someone? Why do some dancers get put on more customers than others? Do managers pick favourites? If given the power, what would be some things that you would change about the club? What is your opinion on the increase of tip out per dance for the dancer, but the stagnancy of the price per dance? This week’s episode is a TWO PARTER and may just be one of our favourite interviews so far - perhaps because we forced the guest into being on the show or because we just couldn’t stop laughing the entire recording. Jeremy has been a good friend of Danica’s for years and “willingly” came on the pod to share his experience as a cis male with an insider view of the sêx industry. Jeremy has been working at the world famous str!p club The Number 5 Orange (aka “The Five”) for 25+ years; the last 12+ years occupying the role of General Manager. But he’s not like a regular manager, he’s a cool manager - we promise!  In the first part of this two-part episode we: discuss the major changes Jeremy has seen in the clubs over the last 25 years, the changes he’s seen in the dancers and the patrons, the impact of c0vid on the local club scene, advice on how to apply / audition for the club, comment on bullying in the club and new dancers respecting the veteran dancers, and discuss what indicators he sees that tells if someone is going to do well in the industry or have the tenacity for the club. Rachel Rampage (@therealrachelrampage) is a full-time feature dancer in Vancouver, Canada. With almost a decade in the industry she’s performed all over western Canada, Quebec and Australia. This tattoo magazine cover girl has dabbled in adult films, music videos and currently music - performing keyboards and vocals on the 2nd album coming out for the band Ritual Dictates. This episode we discuss: how Rachel got into the s3x industry, how she’s perfected her art, how Rachel combats burnout when she’s working six to seven days a week, and our love for (read: obsession of) cosmetic surgery.
